[#042] Say Good Night, Loneliness...
Jan. 28th, 2011 09:49 ami. "Bye, Bye My Friend". Since I did this last post with titling using track names from Pi's album then talking about it, I thought I'd do the same with Meisa's. Funny how well that one worked. lol ♥ But yes! Let's talk about Meisa's Magazine. First of all, if you haven't seen the packaging, you should take a look over here. HOLY FREAKING HELL. I mean, I read that it would be packaged with an actual like magazine/photobook, but ho shit, Meisa looks absolutely gorgeous. I wantttttttttttttttt. Or at least want to see scans. *_________________* As for the album itself, it's pretty kick-ass. My favorite track by far would have to be CELEBRATE. I don't know what it is about that song, but it's utterly enjoyable. Never mind the fact that she says celebrate in a different way that it amuses the crap out of me. ♥♥ And she surprised me with her ballads on the album. Why? And Somewhere... They're both uber good. ♥♥ But I'm leaning towards Somewhere... mainly because Why? has this weird point where something sounds strange with Meisa's voice. But otherwise, the album as a whole is pretty good! I even got used to SHOCK which I thought was a crap song originally, lol.
ii. So yesterday afternoon, I had to meet my mom in front of Barnes & Noble, but she'd take a while so I went inside and examined books for a while. One of the books I found was The Lover's Dictionary: A Novel by David Levithan. And upon reading the first page, i wanted to read this book beyond belief. To show why, here's the first page.
( I typed up the first page just to show why it captured my attention. )
I normally don't like second POV (well, technically it's 1st POV) but I usually hate seeing I, you in there.mildly ironic that my first je fic was in that style too. That said, this story fucking pulled it off. One of my favorite things about storytelling is when there are creative ways to tell said story. And Levithan totally did that with this novel--the whole story is told in small scenes centering around a certain word that best defines it. Like cajole to gingerly to I and so on and so forth. The story is sporadic, jumps from one period in the relationship to another than back in time. But each scene is beneficial in that it helps you learn about the two characters even if the line is something as small as "I, n. Me without anyone else." Still strong and powerful. I kind of loved it. I really want to read it again because I feel like I missed a lot since I read it at like 10-11 in the evening and was half exhausted but SO WANTED TO READ MORE. It was just all together an awesome story, told in such a loving manner and interesting the way the author was able to weave together this couple's story in very little short scenes. I so recommend it. ♥♥♥
iii. The snow in NY has been fucking ridiculous. That last storm threw over 12 inches at us and the city hasn't been recovering well. ://// There's slush and puddles and snow piled up TALLER THAN ME all over the city. It just kills me. ;alskdjfalskdj There was also black ice this morning which I haven't seen this whole winter despite all the terrible storms, but it's usually warm after so the snow melts. But this time, it's been staying chilly because fuck, THERE'S MORE SNOW COMING. Today/tomorrow. And then next Tuesday/Wednesday. hatehatehate. Do not want more snow. T.T It's snowed way too much this winter. T.T
P.S. Still asking for photos over here. ♥♥
