AKA pretty much my entire fucking life. Oh boy.

i. New York's Asian Film Festival is happening in the first two weeks of July. I'm so excited, you guys don't even know. *___________* It's been happening for 10 years now and I've never gone once, but I'm VOWING to go this year. I'm dragging C to at least one movie: GANTZ 2!!!!!!! I'm even more excited because it's going to be subbed instead of dubbed. Also on the calendar is Goro's 13 Assassins (which technically is being shown in multiple theaters across the US, but still. FILM FESTIVAL.) And apparently Yamada Takayuki is going to show up!!! I'm totally tempted to see if I can see him because um. a;sdklfjalsdjf Well, he's definitely not one of my favorites, and I hate when he grows out his facial hair, but fuck that. He's pretty fabulous. Also showing up is Takashi Miike, but lol been there, done that? :DDDDDD

ii. Speaking of movies (kind of?), I have had a dry streak when it comes to movies. According to my uber useful scrapbook, I haven't seen a single one the whole month of May. So to make up for that (apparently), in the first 4 days of June, I've seen 3 already! lololol So mini-reviews.
- Beastly: I actually wanted to see this when it was released. I had the opportunity to go see the premiere but it just didn't work out. Sadface. So I put off watching it until, well, yesterday. And omg, it was SO FUCKING GOOD. *_____________* For those who don't know, it's a remake of Beauty and the Beast in modern times with Alex Pettyfer? (too lazy to look this up) and Vanessa Hudgens. And one of the Olsen twins as the witch. First of all, I have followed the Olsen twins since they were BABIES, OKAY. Never mind the fact that they're a year older than me. I have followed their career--I'm pretty sure I've seen every show they were on and every movie. (It's kind of sad, I know.) But to see them now, "grown up." Holy shit so good (also, I looked this up and it was Mary Kate that was in Beastly). I loved every scene she was in. My particularly favorite wig had to be the short cropped black one and the corresponding outfit. So gorgeous! Anyway, as for the main stars, I loved ...Hunter? Wait, was that his made-up name? Because now I'm blanking. Anyway, his progression was kind of fabulous. I like how you saw he was really interested in her from the start, but didn't really realize it. In short, good movie! *_______* Thoroughly enjoyable and omg, the dialogue in this is so witty and fast-paced. I didn't think it'd be this good! (OMG, I almost forgot to mention Neil Patrick Harris who had the BEST LINES EVER. I laughed every fucking time he opened his mouth. Like seriously, he did not disappoint. :DDDDD)
- Surely Someday: LOLOLOLOL No seriously, that should summarize my entire thoughts on this movie. If I had to tack on anything else, Koide had to wear some TIGHT pants at the end of this movie and man, that was appreciated. :DDDDDDDDD LOL okay, to add more coherence to this. I don't know what it is about this movie, but for the first half, I thought, where the fuck is this going. It was such a fleeting thought though because after a while, I just wanted more of these characters, this friendship they had with each other that was seriously dysfunctional, but it wouldn't work if it WASN'T them. Katsuji Ryo was hysterical. The poor boy had such shit thrown at him--I have to say though that scene with the Yakuza boss made me seriously squick SO HARD. I wanted to cringe SO FUCKING BAD. Or hug him and get him away from that situation because fucking hell. UGH. There were so many dirty things (dirty as in perverted) that I was like, LOL, WHAT THE FUCK? I mean, Katsuji's a virgin throughout it --which, why was this important? LOL I was wondering if he might lose that at some point in the movie. Although that last scene with the "Sex Change" device... Which only leads me to say that I totally thought when Misa told Takumi that he had someone more important to protect, I was like, THEY'RE TOTALLY TALKING ABOUT KYOUHEI. LOLOL Anyway, I could ramble about this movie--about how interesting the characters were, the amount of HUMOR in this, the amount of CAMEOS (OMG, LOOK IT'S INOUE MAO, TSUMABUKI SATOSHI, UETO AYA). I died. It was thoroughly enjoyable even if the story was a little slow-going, but LOVED IT. :DDDDDDDDD Oguri did good. (Oh, randomly, I WANT THAT LAST SONG. Apparently Koide really did sing for this movie. a;dslkajsdlkfjaldj WANTWANTWANT.)

iii. Lastly, still media-related, Asuko March! I've caught up to this drama (2-4) and a;lksdjfalkdjflakdslkfj Just a short comment. As much as I love Aruto and Tamaki, both separately and with Yoshino. I have to tell you guys, my heart's been taken away by another character. I WANT THE DRAMA TO MAKE A HUGE TWIST AND HAVE YOSHINO END UP WITH HIROSE. He is by far my fucking favorite because he's sweet, kind, and he has that gruff exterior but is uber surprising. I mean, he knows how to make music boxes, LOVES SWEETS. He deserves a happy ending, damnit! (Also, looked this up and omg, he's my age. HE'S OLDER THAN ME TOO. *____________* I am ready to go through his previous dramas and hope he ends up with the girl SOMEWHERE. Although according to his mydramalist info, he's mainly been in movies!) Anyway, the drama as a whole is enjoyable, albeit episodic. But when have I ever complained about dramas that are episodic--hello, detective dramas. lol I really am enjoying it and I'm glad that even though Yoshino is finding it a little easier to get used to classes there, she's still positive that she doesn't belong there. That it's not going to be a "oh, I'm going to stay here and change this school for the better!" It's not that easy. This is actually the only drama I'm up to date with this season, lol. AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT--OMG THAT PREVIEW WITH ARUTO. a;dslfkjldfkjskld even if I like Hirose, I still have to repeat, I love both Aruto and Tamaki. OMG, TAMAKI NEARLY CONFESSING. A;SDLKFJALSKDJ AHHHHHH!!!

P.S. I was continuing my Gakkou e Ikou watch and rewatched all the Aishiteru Game segment. It occurred to me, another reason why the Kentarou confession skit was SO GOOD for Sakamoto was because he has a serious weakness to being called sempai. I LAUGHED SO HARD. i think most guys have a weakness for being called sempai because Okada even fell for that. but he also fell for being called Onii-chan which was hysterical. I love how after that happened he was like "I've always wanted a little sister!"
P.P.S. I ordered a bunch of things from Charlotte Russe last week and they finally came in. GUYS, SO PRETTY. *______________* I finally got a vest. I don't understand why vests are always over 30 bucks, but I got one for 20, thank God. *________________* IT'S SO PRETTY. I can't wait to use it. as;ldfkjaslkdjf
