*attempts to pout cutely*
Sep. 5th, 2007 02:29 amIt's 2:30 in the morning. I don't have class until five. (In the afternoon, just in case you might've thought I meant in the morning which is essentially impossible onto itself, but that's beyond the point.) And I just (and by just, I mean about 20 minutes ago) found out that Happy!7 Hey!Say!7 are going to have their own show and it's only making me more and more sad that every one around NewS has their own show, but NOT NEWS. *sobs* Johhny. What are you doing?!
This is written on the spot so excuse the terribleness.
Five Ways in which NewS' Show pwns all.
I.
If there's one thing that nobody can say about NewS when they guest their show, it's that they don't try to make the guest comfortable. If any guest had ever heard another say that about them, they'd either swear that 1) they were already cranky to begin with (the guest, not NewS), 2) they were complete assholes (again, the guest, not NewS) or 3) they were entirely in the wrong show to begin with.
They find that this is the thing they're the proudest of. Their ability to make their guest feel welcome and comfortable in their presence. Some had questioned just how well their different personalities would mesh with an entirely strange personality that they had never encountered. The result ends up being fantastic.
Of the six members, it is Koyama and surprisingly, Ryo who appear as the fore-runners of the show. Koyama, having years of MC practice, eases into the task as simply as putting on a pair of shoes. Ryo, however, pulls in years of practice from the various shows that he hosts with Kanjani8.
At first, it had been thought that Yamapi would be with Koyama since he had that name. But it was soon discovered, during mock trials that the members hosted themselves, that quite frankly, Yamapi sucks at impromptu. During a rather funny rendition where Tegoshi plays a flirty female, who tries to edge closer to Yamapi's seat (they all sat on couches) whenever she got the chance, Yamapi freaks out when "her" hand brushes on top of his and by the time Shige yells cut (as though he knew exactly when the right time was), Yamapi is practically red with embarrassment. The rest of the members unanimously decide that maybe Yamapi just isn't cut out for this type of role.
Ryo, on the other hand, is used to the different types of people that may guest this kind of show. He thinks he's probably experienced each and every one of them on a Kanjani8 one, and finds that his reaction to every thing they say is on point. (Later, he muses that maybe he had been far too hasty on that Domoto Kyoudai episode with Kanjani8 in saying that he wasn't funny. Judging by the laughter of the audience, he thinks that he must be the funniest person there. Of course, Ryo thinks, it was only a matter of time.)
Ryo's snappy comments only make the guests more amused (they believe that he honestly doesn't mean what he says. The NewS members refrain from telling them the truth.) Koyama's kind words help them relax and anyone can tell just how much he loves the other members.
Some of the female guests fawn over the fact that they're in the same room as Yamapi and Ryo and at one point, Massu's surprised to find that he has a very forward fangirl as well. (It had ended with the members urging her to feed him a desert they had brought out for the guests. Massu just couldn't say no.)
Some guests find Shige's intelligence refreshing, as though they're not expecting it from the group and while the other members roll their eyes when Shige and one particular guest fall into a rather heated argument over the importance of core cooriculums in a college course, they're extremely proud when the guest pulls back, looking impressed at Shige's arguments. (The whole segment ends up being cut in the middle, but is edited so seamlessly that Ryo snarks, "You'd think that we hadn't ended up sitting there for over 10 minutes listening to you ramble on and on.")
And then there's Tegoshi. Surprisingly, Tegoshi ends up being the quietest, sitting beside Yamapi and Massu, laughing when it's time to laugh and just smiling the whole time through. For some reason, the guests take comfort in the fact that Tegoshi acts this way and some relish in the fact that there are a few arms thrown onto shoulders and lingering hand touches and some even bet if Tegoshi is going to lean on Yamapi's shoulder for that day.
NewS finds themselves on air for a good amount of time (a year and a half) before the company decides that they should have a different style show.
II.
JE likes to recycle show ideas to be honest. They believe that if it succeeded the first time, it should succeed for a second time, a third, maybe even a fourth. So their idea of having the members go out and exploring various perplexities of the world is an old and tried one, but apparently the number of things that people want to see and learn about just never ends.
Nobody finds it a surprise when Shige throws himself into every report he's given. He likes learning new things and this is no different. The producers find that somehow, he always finds something new that they hadn't discovered themselves when they were researching the topic. And for that reason, they love it when Shige's the one who has to report on something. They give him the extremely tough ones that take a little bit of thinking and viewers love how easily he gets it figured out.
Tegoshi's the same way, although in a different sense of the word. The producers find that he likes to get "down and dirty" and end up giving him things that typically involve lots of physical action. With all the years of soccer playing and his own personal training, Tegoshi finds the tasks a lot simplier than any of the other members would've. And he does all this with a smile, and nobody can resist from cheering for him in the end when they get their answer.
Nobody's surprised when they go to Koyama for the really emotional stuff. They think that he'd be the best suited for dealing with raw human emotion and he'd also be the one who wouldn't waver in his questions, believing that avoiding the question from the start wouldn't solve anything and once they get their thoughts out, it'll help start the healing process (or something along those lines). The producers find that after his reports, letters of gratitude for showing that type of content multiply overnight.
As though it's a surprise to anyone, Massu gets any reports related to food and drinks. He briefly thinks that he may be role-casted within the group, but then someone tells him that he's about to go and examine just how a fish is gutted and cleaned and then cooked, he finds that he really doesn't want to complain. (It doesn't hurt that after every segment, the cooks end up giving him everything that they've cooked and he shares it happily with the rest of the members.)
For Ryo, they give him the reports that are searching for the truth in places that most often try to hide from revealing. Sometimes the reports are the wackiest things, such as whether or not the game machines with the stuffed animals are actually rigged, or they end up sounding so serious that the producers wonder if this is really a Johnny's show or a news studio disguised as a Johnny's show. They find that even people who have looked in the face of danger, can't seem to find it in themselves to say "No" to a partically angry Ryo. (They think it's because he threatens them with such "flowery" language that they're a little thrown off. Yamapi thinks that they're joking themselves if they think Ryo's being serious if he's using kind words like "please" at the end of his phrases. ...But then again, that had been a request from the producers.)
To Yamapi, they seem to find themselves at a loss for what exactly they should give him. For some reason, they feel like there's really no "category" left for the Golden Boy and end up giving him whatever's left over. So the topics would range from the different types of cell phone usage to the many convenient uses of a rubber band. Yamapi takes all this in stride, and the producers find that his cheerful demeanor towards the most mundane things always seems to bring in the most viewers. (Although, they think that can also just be chalked up to the fact that it was Yamapi.)
III.
It's a game show that is decided on next. Nobody knows exactly who thought that there would be enough games in the world that can be filled up in a 30 minute show, but they think that this was probably the stupidest thing ever thought of. There'd be at least 5 minutes of material and then they'd die out.
That's what they think at first. ...Until they realize that when they say game. They mean anything as the NewS members enter the first game and find it stylized like a Jeopardy set. Yamapi's jaw drops and Ryo wonders if it's too late to run off and pretend he's sick for the day so he can go home and study for what looks to be a "trivia" quiz. The only one who looks moderately excited is Shige, until the questions actually pop up.
The questions end up being about the most miscellaneous objects such as the names of the models in Seventeen Magazine (Yamapi happens to know all of them, although Ryo was always a second behind him), the latest commercial jingles (Tegoshi's ear is just as good as his voice, it seems as he gets every one right), the most recent songs on the charts (Shige doesn't understand why this matters when it's a JOHNNY'S show) and random pop culture references.
In the end, he finds himself with the lowest amount of money, only amassing 300 dollars and that Yamapi has the largest amount, leaving Shige with the punishment. Everyone is rather pleased with themselves when they find out that the punishment is to drink a glass of this awful vegetable juice that's out in the market. As Shige gulps it down, the others flinch as he sticks his tongue out in disgust, pushing the cup away.
The next week, the game ends up being an air hockey tournment. The week after, a relay race. And so on and so forth. The number of games they come up with is maddening, and soon NewS finds themselves a lot more fit than they had ever expected.
IV.
This time, NewS is asked to come up with a show concept themselves. They end up coming up with a combination of their very first show with guests and the most recent, with games. They find that a lot of guests are more inclined to being open after doing an activity they enjoy.

...Yes. This was written on the spot. Yes, I wrote this while I was half dead, it doesn't make much sense. I know. LOLOL. Okay. So it'll need a LOT OF WORK. But yeah. XP I just needed something to cheer me up and the idea of a NewS show makes me really happy. That's all. :D
And again. Please ignore how senseless this is. I honestly have no idea where I was goin with it other than to sate my own aggrivations that Happy!7 is getting a show and not my NewS. XP

Date: 2007-09-05 08:10 am (UTC)I'd sacrifice HS7's entire existence for a NEWS show - just sayin'.Any crack kind of show is fine. I mean, I'd seriously watch Yamapi play with rubber bands on national television.

Now, Johnny-shachou, please follow suit with Ya3's image change and give them a proper debut, let's say, around christmas.
Let HS7! take over the cute part and continue the Ya3/NewS collaboration with cool, interesting and adventurous tasks.
(Also let Yabu and Hikaru work together with Nakai. It'd pwn.)
It's cute :D

Date: 2007-09-05 07:53 pm (UTC)I hope you guys don't hate H!S!7 because they're getting more attention or anything than the other bands. >_>;; You just have to remember that they're temporary, and the show isn't really their show.
I'd love a NewS show though; did you make that one up?
