To Keep Procrastinating, I Guess.
Dec. 21st, 2007 10:33 amCurrently working on my Asian Studies paper. I definitely won't be finished before I leave in a half hour or so, so I'll probably end up coming home around 8 or something to finish it off. Although, to be fair, I did make good time in like 2-3 hours. Just started today and already have about 5 pages worth of who knows what. Ahahahah, what can I say? I am a chief at bullshitting things that I clearly don't know about. Now, nobody's saying here that this is a cohesive paper and I actually ran out of things to talk about after four pages, but the whole thing is 7, so I'm like inserting paragraphs inbetween paragraphs that have been already written to talk more on things that I skipped over because I was afraid I didn't know enough. *laughs* I still don't, but whatever. I skipped out on reading the last of the four articles I had to read (or was making myself read) but seeing how I need more material, I guess I'll have to at least skim through 18 pages of utter senselessness. XPPP
But really, guys? This Kula exchange thing? ALL I COULD THINK ABOUT WAS JE. I don't know anymore. JE just wants to take over my life everywhere. (Ahaha, speaking of which, I'm at the apartment writing this and the nurse that takes care of my grandfather... or.. great-granduncle if you want literal terms? *shrugs* Anyway, she saw a picture of Yamapi and was like, "HEY! Is that the guy in that tattoo parlor downtown?" My instant reaction in my head was, HEY. HE'S IN NEW YORK?! Before the words actually sunk in. And I had to go, "No no. I sincerely doubt it." And she went, "Well, he looks exactly like him. He makes gorgeous tattoos - down at 34th and I think, Madison?" I nodded and went, "That's cool." In my mind though, I was thinking, "a;ldjflaksjdflaksjdf. I wonder if I should go down there." XPPPPP I'm so tempted!!! @.@)
Anyway, Kula. Here are lines in the notes that made me think of JE. (Oh and just as a preface, it's a trading exchange mainly between males with the use of gifts and counter-gifts. And the two males that develop this relationship with each other are called partners and it's a lifelong obligation of giving gifts and returning them and... Um... You see where I'm going with this.)
Under Partners:
1. Kula exchanges are transacted only between kula partners, individuals who are, unless serious breaches take place, in fixed lifelong relationships with each others.
2. With rare exceptions, only men can participate in kula partnerships.
3. Kula partnership is described by many participants as being much like a marriage, entailing strong bonds of mutual obligation, of hospitality, protection and assistance.
...
7. A man may have a minimum of two kula partners, one on either geographical side, or multiple sets of partners, extending to as many as 100 or more, as in the case of community leaders.
*sighs* I think that says it for me. ~_~;; I am lame and can't stop thinking of JE! Yay~
Okay, back to work for the rest of my time until 11. Then I'm off to shop and spend time with friends. :DDD I'm really excited.
OH. And holiday fic should be written some time tonight once I finish my paper. :DDD I know exactly who's next. :DDD
