Sep. 14th, 2012 09:07 pmoh hai LJ, whacha been up to?
i. Well. August flew by. Half of September flew by. And now the rest of September is going to fly by since I have two vacations lined up JUST this month alone. XD I mean, one is very mini as it's only 3 days, 2 nights in Atlantic City with girl!J and C. (But it's girl!J's first vacation with friends so I'm counting it.) The big one is at the end of the month, spilling into October, where I will be hitting up VEGASSSSSSSSSSS with C! It's her birthday trip and oh my god. We were talking about this today, about how if we hadn't decided to go on this trip, we could bought have very nice lovely things--like tablets or new laptops or you know, things that are not a gigantic trip. That said, I'M SUPER EXCITED. *__________* When I went to Vegas with my parents, I didn't nearly get to do anything I wanted to. SO, THERE'S THAT. :D
ii. Oh. It's been so long since I last posted that I never got to talk about how juror duty went. It was dull. It was a liability case and involved a slip-and-fall, so there were doctors. Three to be exact. On two separate days. GOD, THEY WERE SO DULL. I mean, there were other witnesses, of course, but OHMYGOD, the doctors were so boring. ZZZZZZZZZZ. Put most of us to sleep, even though we had to fight it so hard. Also, our courtroom was kind of scattered as we kept getting different court officers (which, apparently, is not what usually happens), were not told any of the rules so were a bit lax in our behavior--which we found out was NOT RIGHT on like the second to last day, our juror #1 was a bit of a douchebag, immature and just kind of aggrivating to deal with. So it was just a weird experience. Plus, we spent two days deliberating because of money. Shocking, I know. >.> But it's over. I'm getting paid for 10 days so FUCK YES, extra money to my bank account. It'll make up for those days that I missed out on work, which was this last paycheck. GUYS IT HURT SO BADLY. I only worked two days and UGH it reflected.
I am only grateful that I was able to wrangle extra hours the week I came back and thus will have MUCH MORE MONEY on my next paycheck. that will be beautiful. It'll come right in time for my LV trip, lol.
iii. Speaking of work, it's been going well. Thankfully the combining of the two floors went surprisingly smoothly. Why? BECAUSE WE HAD TWO TEMPS HELPING US FOR LIKE 3 WEEKS. It was glorious. They did the heavy lifting. They did the mailing and packing and taping and OH MY GOD, if it was not for them, me and my boss would definitely not been able to finish all that they did in even DOUBLE the time. It was pretty amazing. I cannot even. Other than that, it's just weird now only having one floor. The bonus is that I no longer have to run downstairs to get files and/or boxes and/or any sort of material. And also, the bonus in working at a Jewish organization is that I HAVE SO MANY HOLIDAYS in the next few weeks. Next week I have two days off (hence trip to Atlantic City), the week after that, is a Wednesday off. The week after that, Monday/Tuesday off (again, hence the trip to LV), then week after THAT is another Monday/Tuesday off. It kind of makes up for the fact that there are absolutely NO holidays during the summer months. *______________* I'm also taking the three days after LV off so I'll technically be away from work for a full seven workdays. It'll be fucking amazing and no one can take that away from me. ohmygod. (I also get to see Craig Ferguson TWICE in that span of time. OH GOD WHY IS IT NOT OCTOBER YET?!)
iv. I managed to see an early movie screening of the movie Pitch Perfect which if you haven't seen the trailer for, here it is.
GUYS, THIS MOVIE IS PERFECT. I don't care what anyone says, I enjoyed the fuck out of it. It was hilarious, the songs were great, I love the characters SO MUCH. The only problem with watching a movie before everyone else is that THERE IS NO FANDOM TO SPEAK OF. I WANT FANFIC. I WANT TO REWATCH THIS. I WANT THE SOUNDTRACK LIKE NOW. But neither of them will be out until the movie is released OCTOBER 5TH. Sigh. (I just rewatched the Riff-off scene while typing this. Because I love that scene. And it just highlights Anna Kendrick and Skylar Astin for me. And I shipped their characters so much in this moive, you don't even know.
P.S. I have a crush on Skylar Astin after this movie. He is by far my favorite character in this movie--with good reason, okay--and all I want is more from him.
P.P.S. I have liked Anna Kendrick ever since I saw the movie Up in the Air (which btw, everyone should watch because it is amazing) and she is brilliant in this as well. And has such a great voice. <3<3<3)
So yeah. Once this movie is released, you better bet I will be TRACKING every little bit of fandom. which i hope there will be a lot of. T.T (if there's not, i don't know how i'm going to deal with it. lol)
