Snagged this from [livejournal.com profile] crystallekil!

With the world becoming more cynical & pessimistic, I feel like all this negativity is bringing me down. And that's not really someone I am, nor want to become. (My sarcasm has an upbeat nature and I'd like to keep it that way.) I look at my son and he's so fresh and pure. It's so hard to keep him down; he's constantly smiling. And I know someday, I'll miss that innocence.

Starting from today, I'm declaring Caturday a new day - Simple Pleasures Saturday!

It's a personal reminder to myself that things aren't always as bad as they seem. That there are simple pleasures in life that would be missed if they weren't around anymore.

Caturday = cathartic Saturday. :D The dictionary definition for 'cathartic' is kind of misleading; in this context it's being used as more of a cleansing, purifying meaning.

My three simple pleasures for today!
1. Being able to take the time to watch so many videos and just cross-stitch. I feel like it's been a while since I haven't been dashing out doing something so, taking the time was love!

2. My family seeming to randomly save me food at times. lol My parents saving a crab leg for me and my little brother just coming into my room to give me a slice of orange. (Which, lol, made me go downstairs to grab a whole orange.)

3. This is actually from yesterday but I'm counting it! Watching The Meetles (a Beatles Tribute group) perform at 34th st train station for at LEAST 40 minutes. They were fucking awesome. *__________* people were singing along, dancing along, and they interacted with the crowd. It was just SO MUCH FUN! ♥

The Meetles performing I Saw Her Standing There. (Not from last night, but they did perform this song then!)
Also the Asian guitarist (Yusuke is his name) is pretty cute. :D Especially up close.

On another note! Media I've watched, some quick reviews on the movies I watched~
- Otonari: There was something rather lovely about this. It's rather slow, but everything feels meaningful in one way or another. For the first half of the movie, there was barely any OTP action (not that there was a lot in the second half either XD) but in the first part, I was starting to ship them with other people! The cute was overwhelming for one pairing until the guy ended up being a douche (which was unfortunately because I liked him). But um, when their paths were OBVIOUSLY crossing and they started noticing each other (in a sense--you'll have to watch to understand the vagueness), it was just adorable. Okada was gorgeous. Period. His smile literally lights up a room, I swear to god. It's a good movie for me, not great but um... Unless you're used to how the pacing of Japanese movies goes, I don't think many will enjoy this.

- Ballad: This movie made me seriously wibble at the end. I was like, omg it's not supposed to go this way! But I understood it and Aragaki shone in this movie. Particularly for me in the ending scenes, but she was great throughout, being strong in her own way. The plot doesn't seem like it should work really, but somehow they made it work. I don't know if it was the funny that was surprisingly abundant or if it was the characters somehow just making you forget any little part of it, but it did and came together pretty damn well. I really enjoyed this movie to no end. And seeing the clash between modern and olden time was pretty fucking awesome--particularly the photographs and the CAR. lol to the princess taking off her shoes before entering the car. WAS SO AMUSED. Seriously worth a watch! :D

- Go Find a Psychic: This was entertaining in its own right. I mean at points I was like, oh man, thank God Masami's in this because I would be like, bzzzz let's just turn this off. I don't know. I guess it was enjoyable for a watch in that I wanted to know what these ESPers would do around Masami's character, but other than the main focus on trying to hide their powers to trying to keep her belief alive, I just didn't see a point to it. I guess the interactions between the characters were amusing, but not completely memorable nor totally fleshed out, I feel. Like there should've been so much more. But otherwise, eh. Only if you're bored, I guess.

That's it from me! I have two more movies ahead. *_________* Tonight's going to be great.
